The Local Government Graduate Finance Programme
Every year, the Local Government Graduate Finance Programme brings together local authorities and other public services to recruit and train graduates who want to pursue a career in public finance. The aim is to provide graduates with the experience and professional qualifications they need to become the public finance leaders of the future.
This year, you can apply to one of nine different London boroughs. Trainees will join one of the boroughs on a secure, four-year contract, where they will be able to gain exposure to every aspect of public finance while studying for a prestigious Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Professional Qualification.
Key responsibilities will include preparing and monitoring budgets, managing savings targets, and providing high-quality financial advice to senior managers and elected officials. There are also opportunities for trainees to get involved in payroll, pensions, treasury, systems, internal audit and more.
Not only is this a unique opportunity for you to build knowledge and expertise while earning a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including a generous holiday allowance and pension scheme. It also provides the foundation for a challenging and meaningful career in public finance, where you will be able to influence decisions that matter to communities and enhance thousands of people’s lives.
