I have just read this article on the Independent and I think everyone should be aware of this company and what they do: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/sex-for-tuition-fees-anyone-students-being-offered-up-to-15000-a-year-to-cover-cost-of-studies-in-exchange-for-having-sex-with-strangers-8364894.html

I agree Lucy, this sort of thing is disgusting.

It is good to see The Independent being involved with some great investigative journalism. this is the sort of stuff that will die a death if the Leveson enquiry comes down too hard on the freedom of the press!

I can't believe it thats disgusting. Its so awful that anyone would be so desperate to do things like that to have their tuition paid. Just get a student loan! I mean yeah it takes a while to pay off, but at least your not selling your body to creeps like that.

This is very bad but it doesn't really surprise me. It is well known among sexual health professionals that there is a proportion of young female students that have sex for money. Been in the newspapers a few times over the years how students escort, strip or work in the sex industry in some way. So using sexual services or favors to support oneself through University is no new thing. But this scheme in the news is very bad. The guy or assessor deserves a good kicking! Cheeky sleazy PRATT!!

I would be horrified if I had a kid who'd gone to those lengths for money. I like to think I'd keep them well enough provided for!

The choices made are purely down to the girls involved. This is the sex trade, and the amount of relevance it has to tuition fees is null. Whether it be under the premise of an 'scholarship' or not, the responsibility lay with the female who is prepared to sell herself. If not to him, then to another escort agency. It is just money for sexual acts, whether it be for tuition fees or for a holiday the concept is the same. If they were forces... then we have a problem on our hands.

Its a hard life out there, time to stop making excuses and start making calculated decisions. Good journalism, but will it stop/hinder/prevent anything? Unfortunately not.

Its not exploitation but just sad.
In America it is not unusual for female students to be involved in the sex industry from pole dancing onwards.
As our higher education becomes more free market focused we can expect more of this.
The truth is that the majority make the choice of going into the industry and my only concern is that it might harm their future prospects, as hard as you can hide things it can come out. Our society still tarnishes people that work in the sex industry. The question is is it wrong for someone to work in an area that will earn them more than they can make at the local tesco's.

Moral conundrum:
Question, if we think its okay for people to pay fees for education then we should we be okay with people work in the sex trade such as porn/escorts/pole dancing or other so called morally questionable jobs to maintain the standard of life. Standard of life is important part because we have to define that next
