This course has been designed by Coventry University and North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College. An Introduction course to Power Electronics and Machine Drives (PEMD) that will give you the foundation knowledge that is required to develop a greater understanding of modern electric motors and their control.

It also provides an excellent level of foundation knowledge required for the progression to the Intermediate and Advanced level courses.

The course has been structured for participants currently at levels 2-3 in the UK qualification system or those who have prior knowledge within an Engineering discipline. No prior electrical knowledge is required, as this forms part of the course structure. This course has been developed by academics and engineers with many years of experience in working with power electronics and delivering training.

The focus is on relevant and practical training to provide the skills required by manufacturers and system developers.

This course is currently free of charge, for the pilot which will run 9:00am - 4:00pm daily at Mira Technology Park, 1 Eastern Avenue, Lindley, CV10 0UX

Delegates will study four key topics at Fundamental level:

  • Day 1: Magnetic and Electrical Fundamentals
  • Day 2: Introduction to Power Electronics
  • Day 3: Introduction to Electric Machines & e-Motor Drives
