The graduate job market hasn't been awash with positive news recently. We all know the reasons why so we're confident we don't need to get into the specifics. Recruitment depends on market confidence consequently there hasn't been much 'good stuff' to report in the past 6 months. However, we have seen some signs in the past two weeks which we think may indicate that graduate recruitment is recovering.
There is the good news to report which we'd like to share with you:
1. More jobs posted to the site
There are 50% more jobs on
graduate-jobs.com than there were 6 weeks ago. These are proper
entry-level, permanent, full-time roles from both recruitment agencies
and direct employers. They are not zero salary internships which is what
we saw being attempted to be advertised after the 2008 financial crash
(graduate-jobs.com does not allow zero salary Internships to be
advertised on the site). Hopefully this trend will continue into the
August and September period which is typically when planning for annual
graduate recruitment intake in many organisation begins.
2. More enquiries from prospective graduate employers
We have
seen an uplift in the number of enquiries to advertise jobs on the site
in the last 14 days. These have been mainly in the Sales, Research &
Analytics and Customer Service sectors. However we have had enquiries
from a range of sectors including Retail, Consulting, Insurance and The
Forces.
3. Notable jobs posted the site in the past 14 days
Here are a
selection of notable jobs posted to the site during the past 14 days
- Marketing Analyst for Foxtons
- Junior Sales Consultant for Bionic
- Graduate Developer for Heavy Penguin
- Tea Room Analyst for Ahmad Tea (yes, that's right...Tea Room)
- Trainee Accountant for Mazars
We'll keep you updated on any new developments and hopefully keep the 'good news' flowing!
