CHP Consulting offers unique careers which rival the biggest firms in IT consulting.
CHP Consulting prides itself on giving graduates an immersive education to help build unique careers. Graduates joining the firm receive training in CHP's software, their clients' business operations, and other mechanics of the asset finance industry.
Gillian Bray, Human Resources Manager at CHP, says what the company offers is something different from their competitors.
"Unlike some of the larger consultancies we don't have people that just do specific jobs," she says. "With CHP Consulting, we rotate you around different roles on projects."
Junior Consultants work on consultancy, software development and project management, and Gillian says graduates can take advantage of the broad training to develop their own career paths.
"The ability to move around different roles keeps CHP Consulting really interesting," she says. "Some people who have been here for ten years say the reason they never moved on is because every new project is so interesting and feels like a new job."
Junior Consultants are welcomed to company with a generous salary of £40,000, a £5000 welcome bonus and an intense four-week training programme. Gillian stresses the company likes to keep their employees happy and nobody is overworked.
"We expect people to work very hard in the hours that they are here," she says. "[But] we realise that people can burn out, and they wouldn't stay with the company for five or ten years if they felt they were being worked to the bone."
Graduates on the programme will gain more responsibility as their understanding of software development and client relations improves.
"We put people on projects for about six months during their early years, and then longer when they get a bit more senior," Gillian says. "People rotate around different roles and tend to lean towards the things they like doing and the areas they excel in."
CHP does not require graduates to have a technical degree. Gillian says it benefits the company to take in applicants from a broad range of subjects.
"We teach people everything they need to know, and what they need to have is an interest in learning about new technology," she says. "We are in the business of trying to solve problems and if you only bring in people from technical backgrounds, you will get similar solutions."
CHP Consulting's success means they now operate overseas, as well as in the UK. Gillian says graduates do get the opportunity to travel as part of their role.
"Everyone that works in the UK has to be flexible to work anywhere in Europe," she says. "You could be working in the office, and then on a project in Helsinki where you are travelling bi-weekly."
After a year with the company, Junior Consultants get the opportunity to work abroad for longer stretches of time.
"The biggest opportunities are in California, Michigan and New Zealand," Gillian says. "People love it when they're younger and not tied down."
CHP Consulting gives graduates the opportunity to choose their own career paths and pursue promising futures in software development, consultancy and project management - with a little bit of travel and excitement thrown in.
