For International day of the Girl (October 11th), Smart Works has launched its inspiring campaign aimed at empowering young women as they step into the world of work. With a mission to uplift women through confidence, coaching, and clothing, Smart Works is using this global day of advocacy to focus on the next generation. The campaign underscores the importance of career readiness and self-belief, helping young women find their place in the workplace and beyond.
Smart Works: A Lifeline for Aspiring Women
Smart Works is a UK-based charity that provides high quality clothing and one-to-one coaching to unemployed women. The charity’s efforts ensure that women not only have the confidence to succeed in interviews but also gain the tools to thrive in the workplace. By offering one-to-one coaching and providing high-quality clothing, Smart Works supports thousands of women each year – and 63% get a job within just one month of their appointment.
This International Day of the Girl, Smart Works is focusing on young women aged 16 to 24, particularly those transitioning from education into the workforce. We know this transition can be daunting, and the Smart Works campaign is designed to break down the barriers these young women face, offering them the support and guidance they need to secure employment and transform their lives.
How can Smart Works help you?
Career Coaching
In this one hour appointment, you will work with an expert coach who will provide personalised, practical support to help you with your job search. This session is completely dedicated to you and the resources that you need – whether it’s CV writing, cover letters, or developing workplace skills. The goal is to provide practical skills that you can immediately apply in job searches.
Interview Clothing and Coaching
Women can benefit from Smart Works’ Interview Dressing and Preparation service, ensuring that you not only feel confident but look professional for your interview. In this appointment, you’ll spend an hour with volunteer stylists to find a free, high-quality interview outfit that makes you feel your best. This is followed by an hour of coaching to prepare for your interview, focusing on how to highlight your skills and put your best foot forward.
The challenges young women face today are unique. With gender disparities still persistent in many industries, and the economic impact of COVID-19 leaving many young women unemployed, services like Smart Works’ are more crucial than ever. By helping young women gain confidence, develop professional skills, and secure employment, Smart Works is not only empowering individuals but also contributing to the long-term advancement of women in the workforce.
